You probably hear often enough that you should buy kindling to start a fire. That it really has many advantages to always use it. But why actually? What exactly is kindling? And why do so many people choose to stock up on a large amount of kindling when they have a fireplace or fire pit? As the name already partly reveals, kindling is suitable for starting a fire. In practice, it is not always easy to start a fire. Especially not when the wood you use is a bit damp or consists mainly of fresh wood. Fresh wood does not burn nearly as easily as kindling.
